E-Net Philippines, as a Global Campaign for Education (GCE) Board Member, will be facilitating the 1GOAL campaign in the Philippines.
To facilitate the participation of students in the GAW 2010 in schools and to inspire teachers to get into the EFA movement, there will be a Lesson for All Activity in at least 100 schools all over the Philippines starting March 19. This will be facilitated by the Department of Education. Teachers are enjoined to conduct lessons on the importance of EFA in the classrooms.
The Lesson for All may even be linked up to local sports activities such as Sipa, Arnis and Basketball in line with the 1 Goal theme. There is also a plan to link up with Philippine Basketball Association in the Philippines and the teams for local sports such as sipa and arnis.
On April 20, Lesson for All in Communities will be conducted by E-Net Philippines. To highlight the appropriate financing needed for conflict areas in Mindanao and to call on education for peace building, E-Net Philippines will have a mobilization in part of Southern Mindanao together with the Partners in Education for Community Empowerment (PIECE) project team. Likewise, E-Net member organizations in Visayas and Luzon will organize GAW 2010 activities to advocate the importance of financing EFA in these islands. These include the PILCD, PIGLAS, Pinasama, the University of Cebu , CBE, KPACIO and the Metrowest. In still to be identified communities, the Lesson for All will be facilitated by Plan International-Philippines, a consistent partner of E-Net in GAW activities.
On April 22, a Forum on Education Financing will be jointly organized by DepEd and E-Net to highlight education financing and the need to mobilize and efficiently use resources in education. A Press Conference will immediately follow the forum. Election candidates, DepEd officials and Civil Society Organizations will be asked to pose in front of the 1Goal poster together with sports enthusiasts as a sign of their commitment to EFA Goals. These photos will be posted in the E-Net website.
